The Award Ceremony of TAP (TiE Chandigarh and IKGPTU) Business Plan Competition 2016 was held at PHD Chamber, Chandigarh on 15th November. The six winning student teams from various IKGPTU Colleges made a 5-minute pitch before an audience comprising officials from IKGPTU; Directors, Faculty & students from colleges of IKGPTU; and members from TiE Chandigarh. The dignitaries and participants were welcomed by our CEO, Mr Manish Trehan who reminded the winners that ideas are easy but implementation is tough. “Funding” should not be an excuse for lack of “guts”, he added.

The “E-truck” project from Indoglobal College of Engineering, Abhipur won the First Prize of Rs 40,000. The team was mentored by our Chairman, Mr Chandra Mohan, who is also the Founder President of TiE Chandigarh. The second prize of Rs 30,000 was won by the team from St. Soldier College of Engineering, Jalandhar for their business plan titled “Smart Electro Fitting System”. The team from Anand College of Engineering & Technology, Kapurthala won the third prize of Rs 20,000 for their project “Singh Harvesters”.

Prizes and certificates were given to the winners, finalists and EDP coordinators of colleges by Dr AP Singh, Dean (RIC) – IKGPTU and Mr JB Singh, President TiE-Chandigarh.Congratulating the winning teams, Dr AP Singh encouraged them to patent their idea and plan for starting their venture for which incubation support would be extended by IKGPTU.In his closing remarks, Mr JB Singh commended the efforts of TiE members& mentors and EDP coordinators from colleges. Heannounced that the winners were eligible to register for the TiE International Startup Competition 2016 whose winners would participate in Rice University’sInternational Business Plan Competition 2016.
